The CMO+CCO Meter was established to track the sentiments of chief communications officers (CCOs). Overall happiness in their job remains high, but all three metrics of satisfaction, recognition, and workload dipped slightly in the last six months. What might lie behind this?
Happiness takes a slight hit. Leaders of corporate communications teams tend to relish their jobs. Across the period we have tracked, not a single respondent has ever indicated they are very unhappy with their job. However, this does not mean all is rosy. The turmoil and turbulence of the last six months have put pressure on communications teams. Sentiment about workload, which has been steadily improving as a result of the new tools available, took a dip. Overall satisfaction and recognition followed suit in declining gently. This is surprising since positive sentiments were seen in satisfaction with resources and impact on the business.
